Butyl Sealants

  • Butyls are extruded synthetic rubber (PIB) strip sealants primarily used for water sealing applications
  • Butyls consist of rubber, plasticizer, filler and resin which give different properties when the quantity of each in the formulation is altered
  • Butyl does not harden or become brittle like bitumous products
  • Butyl strips can have PVC shim (spacers) in the centre of the extruded shape to prevent over-compression of the sealant
